En toen vielen we van de aarde is a physical and visual failure opera in which various characters stumble over how life works. Not knowing how, they try to impress, enter into encounters and live in a world that they themselves do not yet understand. They long for chandeliers, palaces and a standing ovation, but don’t yet know how to sustain themselves. The recognizable trying, failing, interrupting and continuing, leads them to chaotic choreographies in this confused costume drama.
