SatisFactory is a performance about the phenomenon of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). You know, that tingling sensation you get when you see small pieces of soap being cut from a large block with a utility knife. Or when someone makes soft tapping sounds in a binaural microphone. There’s a lot going on about ASMR and especially the ASMR-tists. They constantly battle the stigma that their work is a form of disguised soft pornography. To what extent are they responsible for the toxic culture that has developed around ASMR, and to what extent are the algorithms and viewers forcing them into it?
